The Firebirds will head into white ball cricket season on top of the Plunket Shield ladder as Day Four against the Auckland Aces at the Basin was abandoned.

After the first two days promised an exciting end to the matchup, the fixture has ended in a draw.

The result sees the Firebirds secure four bowling points, while the Aces take five points (4 bowling, 1 batting) from the match.

The Plunket Shield will take a break until late February as the Firebirds look ahead to their next assignment; their Ford Trophy starts away against the Auckland Aces on Sunday.
