The Whiting Financial Services Wellington provincial A season gets underway tomorrow when the squad travels North to take-on Central Districts A in a three-day match at Nelson Park in Napier.

Head coach Sri Krishnamurthy has selected a strong squad for the season opener, despite a nuber of late changes.

Young seamer Michael Snedden has been promoted to the Firebirds squad to face Canterbury in round two of the Plunket Shield also starting tomorrow, so New Zealand Under 19 representative Jesse Taskoff comes in to the side.

Batsman Chander Ravi also comes into the side following his strong 98 for Taita over the weekend.

Contracted Firebirds Lauchie Johns and Jakob Bhula are also included, and Firebirds rookie Troy Johnson will be looking to continue his strong form after his 130 for Hutt District on Saturday.

Luke Georgeson will captain the side.

Play gets underway from 10.30am tomorrow.
