Capital Football and Cricket Wellington Launch Cross-Code Resource Sharing Initiative

Capital Football and Cricket Wellington are proud to announce a new partnership to share administrative resources in the management of junior competitions. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of competition delivery across both codes while increasing operational efficiency.

With football and cricket occupying opposite ends of the seasonal calendar, the collaboration presents a unique opportunity to harness shared expertise between two of the region’s leading sporting organisations.

As part of the initiative, Tom Kinley, who currently oversees Junior Cricket administration at Cricket Wellington, will transition into the role of Competitions Coordinator – Junior and Youth at Capital Football from 7 April. Tom will be responsible for managing all junior and youth competitions, from fun football festivals to the youth Capital Development League.

Capital Football CEO Richard Reid welcomed the appointment.
“Tom brings great experience and a real enthusiasm for sport. He’ll be a strong asset to the team.”

Cricket Wellington CEO Todd Bryant shared his enthusiasm.
“We’re excited for Tom to gain experience in a new sporting environment this winter. Sharing resources across organisations creates value for both our staff and our participants, while supporting personal and professional development.”

Tom Kinley himself is enthusiastic about the new challenge:
“I'm really excited for the opportunity I've been given by Cricket Wellington & Capital Football to lead a new approach to sports management with this code sharing role,” Kinley said.

“Football was the sport I first fell in love with as a junior so having the chance to give back to the sport that gave me so much is really special. To be engaged in competition work year-round across two major sports will be great for my own development as a sports administrator.

There is so much intersectionality across sporting codes & the closer we work together the better outcomes we can create for our participants, many of whom we share,” he said.

Tom will fully transition into his new role at Capital Football on 7 April, ensuring a smooth handover of cricket responsibilities while preparing for the start of the football season in May.
