The Spotlight Reporting Wellington Blaze welcome Laura Harris and Charli Knott of the Brisbane Heat to their squad for the remainder of the 2022-23 Dream11 Super Smash season.

Harris and Knott both bring Big Bash League experience to the capital, topping up the Blaze’s player pool at a crucial time.

With nine total players going on overseas duty – five with the WHITE FERNS at the T20 World Cup and four with the New Zealand U19 side, Cricket Wellington has followed the lead of other Major Associations by bringing in international talent. 

“With so many players involved in the WHITE FERNS and U19’s it is important that we are able to complete on an equal footing with the other Major Associations that have added overseas players this season”, Blaze Head Coach Lance Dry said.

“We are delighted to add the Big Bash experience of Laura and Charli. I know they are both excited to be joining the Blaze, they will both add so much to our playing group”

Laura Harris is known as one of the most destructive batters in the game, possessing a strike rate over 200 in this season’s Big Bash League at an average of 22. With over 100 BBL games and experience in The Hundred in England, Harris will also bring valuable leadership to the Blaze.

Charli Knott, 20, is an up-and-coming allrounder who opens the batting in the 50-over game, who also bowls handy right-arm finger spin. Contracted since she was 16, Knott is widely viewed as a future star Australian cricket.

Harris and Knott will join the Spotlight Reporting Wellington Blaze for their top-of-the-table Round 8 clash on Wellington Anniversary Day at the Cello Basin Reserve, where the Blaze will take on the Canterbury Magicians.

The relationship between Cricket Wellington and Queensland Cricket continues to strengthen and evolve, particularly in the women’s game, with both organisations benefitting in the form of reciprocal transfers of world-class talent.
