Mo is a right-handed batter and left-arm medium-pace bowler of considerable promise. He grew up in Auckland, which he represented at Under-17 and Under-19 levels. He moved to Wellington in 2022 when his father Azhar, who had played for the Firebirds in 2004/05, was appointed the Firebirds’ bowling coach.
Mo made his first-class debut for the Firebirds against the Otago Volts at Dunedin in February 2023 and played his first Ford Trophy game against Canterbury on the Basin Reserve in December 2023. His first Super Smash game was against the Otago Volts on the Basin Reserve also in December 2023. Mo scored 52 runs in his first ODI against Pakistan at Napier in March 2025, bringing up his 50 from 26 balls – the fastest by anyone in their ODI debut.’
