Blaze looking to bounce back

The Admark Print Wellington Blaze will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they travel to Levin to take-on the Central Hinds in round three and four of the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield.

The Blaze fell to two narrow defeats to last year’s runners u[p the Northern Spirit in Wellington two weeks ago and know wins this weekend are crucial to ensure they stay in the hunt for their first one-day title.

The squad is boosted with the return of WHITE FERN Jess Kerr who will play her first game since the WHITE FERNS tour of Australia in October.

“We’re looking forward to another important weekend of cricket in Levin,” said Blaze head coach Ivan Tissera.

“There were some real positives to take away from the first two rounds of matches and we will be looking to build on those this weekend.”

“It’s great to welcome Jess back into the squad who will bring a lot of experience to a young playing group which can only be a positive.”

This weekend’s fixtures are the second of three weekend rounds of one-day action before the competition breaks for the Dream11 Super Smash.

Play gets underway from Donnelly Park in Levin at 10.00am on Saturday and Sunday – spectator entry is free.
