Provincial A Men's and Women's teams in action this weekend

The Wellington Provincial Men's and Women's A sides are both back in action this weekend.

The Whiting Finacial Services Wellington Men's A team take-on Canterbury A in a three-day match starting on Sunday at Burnside Park in Christchurch, while the Admark Print Wellington A Women's team face Wairarapa in the second match of their quad series.

The Men's A team will be looking to bounce back from back-to-back defeats to Auckland A last month and will be able to call on the services of Wellington Firebirds Peter Younghusband, Andrew Fletcher and Jakob Bhula.

Luke Georgeson, who recently became the latest A player to debut for the Firebirds, will captain the side in the absence of regular captain Troy Johnson who is included in the Firebirds squad for their Plunket Shield match against Canterbury.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Callum McLachlan will be relishing another opportunity to represent the Wellington A side.

The 20-year-old was on fire for his Upper Hutt United club last weekend smashing the club runscoring record with 224 against North City.

The Women's A team come in to their match against Wairarapa off the back of a 25-run defeat to Taranaki in the opening match of their quad series.

Sunday's match is the second of three matches for the Women's A team - they will face Manawatu in the final match of the series on March 15.
