Whiting Financial Services Wellington U19 head coach Luke Woodcock has named a squad featuring six New Zealand Under 19 squad members to compete at the National U19 Tournament in Lincoln in December.
The squad features captain Jesse Tashkoff, fast bowler Ryan Jackson and batsman Devan Vishvaka who all represented New Zealand U19 against Bangladesh last month, while wider New Zealand U19 squad members Dylan Sharma, Micha Conroy and Tim Robinson are also included.
“We’ve got a very well-balanced squad and I can’t wait to get down to Lincoln to continue the strong showing of the Under 19 team over the last couple of years,” said Woodcock.
“It’s been great for me working with the full squad over the winter, getting to know the players and I’m excited to see what we can do once the tournament gets underway.”
Cricket Wellington pathway manager Chris Nevin said he was delighted with the depth of talent in the region at the moment.
“It’s always a hard time of the year when you have to trim down the squad that’s been working so hard together over the winter,” he said.
“There are some very talented players that have missed out which is a good sign for the future of cricket in Wellington.”
The National U19 Tournamnet takes place at the New Zealand Cricket High Performance Centre in Lincoln from December 4-12.
