Super Smash action continues at the Cello Basin Reserve on Sunday 11 January as Wellington takes on Northern Districts in a must-see Charity Round, combining high‑octane cricket with a powerful community cause.
The day will feature a Super Smash double‑header against the Northern Brave, with the Wellington Blaze opening at 12.40pm, followed by the Wellington Firebirds at 4.25pm, delivering non‑stop entertainment as four quality sides go head‑to‑head over two matches.
This Charity Round is about giving back to our community. Cricket Wellington is proud to be partnering with the Wellington City Mission, with 10 percent of all ticket sales donated directly to support the vital work the Mission does across Wellington. Every ticket purchased helps make a real difference beyond the boundary.
Fans can also get involved through a Banner Competition, showcasing your creativity and support for the Wellington City Mission. Bring your colours, make your message bold, and help create an electric atmosphere that reflects the incredible community spirit behind this cause. Banners should feature the Wellington City Mission logo, include the #bat4change hashtag, and be respectful and inclusive (any banners displaying rude or discriminatory content will be confiscated). Banners will be judged on the day, with prizes up for grabs for the most creative and impactful entries. Keep an eye on Cricket Wellington’s social channels for judging details, prizes, and inspiration ahead of match day.
All tickets gain entry to both matches, so supporters can save money and time by purchasing online ahead of time. Tickets available from https://cricketwellington.flicket.co.nz/
Wellington City Missioner Murray Edridge added “Whakamaru has been everything that we hoped it would be, and more. We have seen the Wellington community come together in extraordinary ways as we seek to create a community where there is no judgement of each other, where everyone belongs, everyone matters, and everyone is OK.”
Support the mission, bring your friends and whānau, and be part of a day where great cricket meets a great cause.
