Expressions of Interest | Player Development Programme


Cricket Wellington is on a mission to create outstanding experiences for all Wellingtonians. We are now recruiting for COMMUNITY CRICKET AMBASSADORS to champion and support our tamariki and rangatahi in schools, clubs, and wider community for the 2022-23 season. 

These positions will work in partnership with New Zealand Cricket, the wider Cricket Wellington community team, primary and secondary schools, and affiliated Cricket Wellington clubs to grow the game and enhance the quality of the cricket experience for players, coaches, umpires, administrators, and fans. 

 

Community Cricket Ambassadors (casual and contract positions available)If you are passionate about sport, are enthusiastic and enjoy working with tamariki to inspire and advocate for physical activity then we want you! There is an expectation for ambassadors to deliver sessions that are fun, fast paced, and inclusive for all participants. The Community Cricket Ambassador role is varied, meaning no day is ever the same. Ambassadors must have confidence in working with people of all ages, cultures and abilities and have experience in coaching and in engaging people in physical activity, though not necessarily cricket. In fact, we welcome your diverse sporting skills and experience! 

There a number of Community Cricket Ambassador positions available for the 2022-23 season, commencing 1 August. Successful applicants will be provided with full training and development opportunites. 

 

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: 

To apply for these positions you must be a confident, friendly person that wants to lead and learn. 

Key qualifications and skills include:

  • Experience engaging people in physical activity, sport, and active recreation, not necessarily cricket
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Confidence to work with people of different ages, cultures, and abilities
  • Experience in coaching (not necessarily restricted to cricket) and a desire to attend further development opportunities
  • Current driver license and reliable transport as regional travel will be required
  • Police vetting will be completed as part of the recruitment process
