The Admark Print Wellington U21 squad heads to Auckland on Friday to compete in the National Under 21 Women’s competition at Lloyd Elsemore Park. The team travels North with six players returning from last year’s side.
Beth Molony will captain the team and will be looking to continue the good form she has found so far this season playing for the Blaze.
Head Coach and Wellington Blaze star Lucy Doolan said she was looking forward to seeing what the squad produce in the tournament.
“The squad has been training hard and are looking forward to what has historically been a very fiercely fought tournament. There is a good buzz within the group and I feel like we have a nice balance of experienced players along with some playing at this level for the first time.”
Cricket Wellington pathway manager Chrsi Nevin said preparation had been strong leading into a challenging week-long competition.
“The squad have a had great build-up this year and have been training together since September. There is some exciting young talent in this group and we look forward to seeing them perform on the national stage over the next 7 days.”
The National Under 21 Women’s competition starts tomorrow and runs until Friday December 21.
