A sunny Wellington weekend saw the Premier Grade’s two finalists, Easts and Karori, dominate the first day of the penultimate round of Club cricket. Easts put Hutt into bat and dismissed them for just 84. Ricky Joseph did the damage taking 7-34. Easts then scored 293-3 with an unbroken fourth wicket stand of 222 off 236 balls. Jeremy Dean scored 129 not out from 141 balls and Scott Golder got an undefeated 101 from 125 deliveries. Hutt were 20-1 at close of play.

Karori put Naenae into bat and it proved the right decision. Only Adam Williams with 41 showed any resistance against the bowling of Lee Edwards and Sunnie Chan who each took five wickets. Naenae made 81. Karori were dismissed just before stumps for 200. Tom Blundell carried on his good form with 71 and Jarrad Sewell scored 50. Williams had a good day taking 4-31.

Onslow batted all day against Norths scoring 494-9. This can largely be credited to a 276 run stand between Blair Parlane and Liam Chrisp for the fourth wicket. Parlane made a maiden century scoring 133 while Chrisp got 147. Ben Jansen took 5-176 off a marathon 41 overs.

University made 254 against Taita with Graham Murray scoring 94. Andrew Sturt and Dave Houghton both took three wickets. At close of play Taita were 74-2
