Talented girls start pre-season training

Friday, 3 August 2012
From 19 August a squad of 19 girls will start training at Cricket Wellington’s indoor centre in Mana. The intensive sessions will run for six weeks and will be under the watchful eye of Blaze players Mindy Hodgson and Suzie Macdonald, giving the girls the ideal build-up for the upcoming season. Cricket Wellington sees this as a very important part of the female development programme and in continuing to grow the girls’ game.

Cricket Wellington’s new Women’s Coordinator Mark Coles said he was delighted to have Mindy and Suzie on board as coaches. “Mindy and Suzie are enthusiastic and passionate about female cricket and to have them offer their services and coach our young talent is a fantastic outcome,” Coles said.

The girls will be competing for spots for the National Development Tournament held in Wanganui in January 2013.
