Gazley sets Onslow club batting record on Saturday

Monday, 19 March 2012
Chris Gazley set a new Onslow Cricket Club batting record on Saturday by
scoring an incredible 249 runs against Wellington Collegians in the 1A grade
and earned two more appearances on the Club Honours Board.

The achievement was 13 runs higher than the previous club record of 236 set 62
years ago by previous club patron and life member, Wally Heatherwick during the
1949-50 season.

The double century was the eleventh time that Gazley has passed the 100 mark
since debuting for Onslow during the 2003-04 season and came off just 102 balls,
earning Gazley his third Honours Board for scoring 150 runs or more in the
lower grades.

The innings eclipsed Gazley’s previous best of 191 runs scored in 2009-10
and also saw him surpass 750 runs for the season for the second time in his
career, another Honours Board mention. With his season tally currently at 886,
it is currently the sixth highest season run aggregate in Onslow’s history and
with two games left in the season, Gazley now has a chance to eclipse the 1009
record aggregate set by Paul Warren during the 1990-91 season and is now also
667 runs away from 5000 career runs, also an Honours Board achievement.
