Twenty20 cricket Saturday
Saturday saw two rounds of Twenty 20 cricket played, with Naenae Old Boys, North City and Onslow each recording two wins.
North City defeated Eastern Suburbs in the morning round, scoring 124 for 5 with Ben Jansen scoring an unbeaten 52. They then dismissed Easts for 78, Criag Shanks 3 for 16 and Mark Gillespie in his first game of the season getting 3 for 18. In the afternoon they defeated University by 32 runs. Norths got 150 for 4 and then restricted University to 118 for 9 with Shanks getting 3 for 16 and Ben Jansen 3 for 14.
Naenae defeated neighbours Taita in the early game. Taita made 147 with Ollie O’Leary scoring 67 and Naenae lost six wickets getting the target. They then defeated Karori by 32 runs. Naenae made 122 with Simon Baker taking 3 for 20 and then dismissed Karori for just 90 after they had an opening partnership of 69. Marcel Wratt took a career best 5 for 12.
Onslow beat University on the super over rule. Onslow scored 97 with the students then getting 97 for 8. In the super over University made 7 for 2 while Onslow scored 8 for 0.In the afternoon Onslow beat Easts by 23 runs. Onslow made 137 for 6 with former Easts player Jimad Khan getting 63. Khan then took 3 for 27 as Easts could only score 114-9.
Karori defeated Hutt in the early game, getting 137 for 6 but Hutt could only make 125 for 5 despite Tim Robertson scoring 61.
Hutt lost their afternoon game to Taita in a high scoring game. Hutt got 171 for 7 with Stephen Myburgh ( brother of Canterbury player Johann) getting 98 from 62 balls. He hit 8 fours and 6 sixes. Taita scored 174 for 4 with O’Leary getting 62, Mark Houghton 54 and Myburgh taking 3 for 22.
In the Senior grade Wellington College, Johnsonville and Upper Hutt all recorded two wins.
Wellington College got 126 for 5 against Karori and then limited them to 89 for 7. They then defeated Petone-Riverside by 6 wickets. Petone-Riverside made 92 for 8 with Scott Archer taking 4 for 19. Then they scored the runs for the loss of just four wickets.
Johnsonville beat Petone-Riverside in the early game. Petone scored 71 for 8 and then Johnsonville lost three wickets. They then defeated Karori by 24 runs in the afternoon.
Upper Hutt beat North City by six wickets scoring 104 for 4 in reply to 99, and then beat Taita by 14 runs.
Taita had beaten Collegians by 3 wickets in the morning, with Anthony Crummy taking 4 for 16.
Collegians then defeated Norths by 11 runs in the afternoon

One-Day games Sunday
A round of one-day games was played on Sunday following the double round of Twenty 20 games on Saturday.
In the Premier grade, Karori beat Hutt on an adjusted target. Karori made 225 for 9 with Tim Blundell scoring 99 from 125 balls. Hutt had a revised target of 117 but could only make 100.
Taita scored 230 for 8 against Naenae, Steve Gellatly scoring a century off 99 balls. In reply Naenae made 125-7, losing by 44 runs.
Easts made 162 against North City, who had an adjusted target of 147 which they achieved with four wickets down.
University made 98 against Onslow, who won losing three wickets.
With one round of One-Dayers to go, Easts and Karori have 21 points followed by Norths with 20, the two one day finalists will come from these three teams.
In the Senior competition, Collegians had a comprehensive win over North City. Upper Hutt defeated Karori , Petone-Riverside beat Johnsonville and Taita beat Wellington College.
Petone-Riverside hold a slender one-point lead over Karori and North City.
