We are saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Andy Wilson.

Alongside his immense achievements in, and contribution to, club cricket, Andy represented both Wellington A and Wellington with pride.

For Wellington A, he was the team's leading run-scorer at both the 1984-85 and 1985-86 national tournaments. Against Central Districts in January 1985, he blasted 187 out of a total of 407 - the next highest score was 49.

While his provincial career was short, Andy's First-Class resume included playing in the famous victory over the West Indies in 1980 while his sole One-Day appearance for Wellington saw a rare tied game, against Otago in December 1979.

For most, however, Andy will be remembered for his generosity - whether through sharing his knowledge of the game as a coach and mentor, or in the clubrooms where many at Onslow will attest to his ability to share a great story.

We extend our condolences to his family, friends, and all at Onslow Cricket Club.It is with great sadness that we must report the passing of Onslow Cricket Club legend and Life Member Andy Wilson. Andy sadly passed away from a sudden heart attack on Tuesday morning. Andy's contributions to the club both on and off the field were immense right up until his passing. He scored a club record 9703 Premier Grade runs and also took 59 wickets. He was the captain of the Onslow championship winning team of 1988/89. Andy was also an exceptional rugby player, representing the old Onslow rugby club for years and also making appearance's for Wellington B. RIP mate. Further details to come regarding funeral arrangements.
