Peter Garty - Chairman
Peter was appointed to the Cricket Wellington Board in 2005 and was elected its Chairman in March 2011. Peter is also Chairman of the CW Finance Sub-Committee. Peter is Chief Financial Officer of the Wellington City Council following a 10 year career as Group Controller Finance at Telecom. Peter is involved with a variety of Boards, including University Rugby Club, Westpac Stadium Members’ Committee, Volunteer Fire Brigade, School Boards of Trustees, NZ Universities Rugby and has been on several commercial boards during his career. He is passionate about Wellington and its sporting success.
Mark Heissenbuttel – Deputy Chairman
Mark was appointed to the Board in 2010. He is the Transport Manager for Rugby World Cup 2011, and comes from a strong operations background at New Zealand Post. Mark’s work background goes hand in hand with his extensive experience in Sports Administration. As the current Chairman of Fraser Park Sportsville Incorporated and the immediate past Chairman of Taita Cricket Club, Mark has an extensive understanding of the issues facing club cricket in Wellington. Mark has until recently served as a selector for the Firebirds, and therefore has a strong grasp on the full player pathway within Cricket Wellington.
Nigel Blair - Director.
Nigel was appointed to the Board in 2011. Nigel has an extensive background in cricket as a player and administrator, with the Johnsonville Cricket Club and Mana Junior Cricket Club, but he has also served on the Wellington Cricket Management Committee, the Wellington Wanderers Committee, the Cricket Wellington Junior Advisory Group. After graduating from Victoria University, Nigel spent five years teaching at Aotea College and helped successfully establish cricket at the school, growing the number of teams from one to seven. Following a change of career, he has spent the past 25 years working in sales, sales and marketing, and general management roles in the ICT industry, including roles with Computerland, Vodafone, Oracle and Simpl NZ. Currently he is General Manager, Managed Services with Intergen NZ, a privately owned application development and software services company based in Wellington with branches in NZ and Australia.
Steven Fyfe - Director
Steven was appointed to the Board in 2011. He comes to Cricket Wellington with a strong background in the banking sector and until recently was Deputy Chief Executive of the ANZ National Bank. After graduating from Victoria University, Steven built his career first at Coopers and Lybrand, then Southpac Corporation followed by the bank. He recently retired from ANZ National, with the intention to undertake a range of community and busienss consulting activities. A former college and social player, his main invovlement with the game has come through coaching, managing and adminitering junior cricket in Wellington. In recent years he has been closely invovled with the National Bank's sponsorship of New Zealand cricket.
Sally Morrison - Director
Sally was appointed to the Board in 2009. She is a senior manager in the public sector and has a background in project and relationship management. Sally played over 20 years of senior cricket, has been actively involved in the administration of the game as a long time coach, manager of the Wellington Blaze, and past Chairman of the Wellington Collegians Cricket Club. At the 2009 AGM Sally became the first elected female on the Cricket Wellington Board. Sally has a strategic focus and previous experience in volunteer governance roles. Sally is part of a strong cricket family, her father John Morrison is a Life Member of the Association.
Richard Suhr - Director
Richard was apppointed to the Board in 2011. Richard is currently the Director responsible for Google's Enterprise Sales Division in Asia Pacific. Richard is responsible for all Sales and Operations activity in the region. Google is a seperate operating division within Google Inc, responsible for selling Google's consumer technology to business, government and education customers. Richard has been with Google for five years, having established the Enterprise as its first employee in Asia and it now employs over 50 staff. Richard has had responsibility for defining the overall organisaton structure, setting the Asia Pacific sales stategy, and the day-to-day management and execution of that activity. A lifelong cricket fan, Richard played club and representative cricket in Wellington, Auckland and London. His club and representative history includes Wellington Schoolboys and St Patrick's College first XI.
Bruce Pepperell - Director
Bruce was appointed to the Board in 2010. Bruce recently retired as Deputy Chief of Navy after a 36 year career. He has a strong background in leadership, strategic thinking, logistics, and governance having held a number of Board and Trust appointments (including a variety retailer, marae, industry alliance, museum, and a superannuation fund). Bruce is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management, a Member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and is a previous Club Captain for the North City Cricket Club.
