The Gillette Cup is the pinnacle of school boy cricket in New Zealand. It is a nationwide competition with regional winners meeting at a national finals tournament in December each year. Schools around the country see the Gillette Cup as the focal point of their season with the overall winners being seen as the National Champion school for that year.
The Wellington region representative at the national finals is decided by a week long tournament during summer tournament week in March. The final of this tournament is traditionally played on The Hawkins Basin Reserve.
