Sam is a sound right-handed top order batter and slow left-arm bowler. In February 2025 he hit 226* from 162 balls in a two-day game against Eastern Suburbs CC, which was the highest of the club season. A month later he hit 160* and 125 in a three-day Provincial A game against Central Districts at Kelburn Park.
