Jesse is a right-handed batter and left-arm slow bowler who was in the HIBS First XI which won the Gillette Cup in 2015. He played for NZ Under-19 in 2019 and 2020, captaining the side at the Under-19 World Cup tournament in South Africa in early 2020. He made his first-class debut against Canterbury at Rangiora in March 2023, and his first Ford Trophy game was against the Northern Brave on the Basin Reserve in February 2024. He played his first Super Smash game against the Otago Volts on the Basin Reserve in December 2023.
Of Te Aitanga-a-Hauiti, Ngāti Hine, Ngāti Porou and Ngāpuhi descent, Jesse captained the Te Whanganui-a-Tara Māori team at the inaugural Māori National T20 Tournament at Whangarei in March 2023.
