Jess is a right-handed batter and right-arm opening bowler who is the older sister of fellow Blaze and current WHITE FERNS player Melie. She played her first HBJ Shield game for the Blaze against the Canterbury Magicians on the Basin Reserve in November 2016, and her first Super Smash game was against the Northern Spirit at Whangarei the following month. In December 2025 Jess took 7-18 in an HBJ Shield game against the Canterbury Magicians at Rangiora.

She made her ODI debut for the WHITE FERNS against South Africa at Eden Park Outer Oval in January 2020 and played her first T20I against the same opponents on the Basin Reserve the following month. Jess has played in both the Australian and English T20 leagues.
