PATHWAYS PROGRAMMES
​​​​​​​SKILLS ASSESSMENT SELF-NOMINATIONS

To be selected for the 2026-27 Pathways programmes, we are seeking self-nominations from players to be involved in the Skills Assessments. Players who believe they have the necessary skills will be assessed against specific criteria. Successful players will then be selected into the respective training programmes. Skills Assessments will be held at the WSC Indoor Centre, Hnry Stadium and conducted by our Pathway and Performance coaching staff. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:​​​​​​​

CORE PLAYING COMPETENCIES:

  1. Players must possess a sound skill base.
  2. Players must have excelled at school cricket and exhibited an ability to perform at a high level.
  3. Players should be displaying a high level of consistency in their performances

CORE PERSONAL QUALITIES:

  1. Strong work ethic
  2. Shows discipline on and off the field
  3. Demonstrates team qualities and a readiness to listen, learn and apply learning
  4. Dedicated and committed to developing their game

SKILLS ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:

BATTING: Front Foot and Back Foot – Ball Contact, Defence, Attack. Fundamentals – Head Position, Stance

BOWLING: Pace, Repeatable Action, Ball Performance, Accuracy

PROGRAMME AND SKILLS ASSESSMENT DETAILS:

U15 GIRLS

SKILLS ASSESSMENT DATES: 28th July (4.30-6.00pm), 29th July (4.30-6.00pm) & 4th August (4.30-6.00pm)

TRAINING PROGRAMME DETAILS: The U15 Girls Programme will be split into an initial programme in Term 3 and a final squad programme in Term 4.​​​​​​​ Thursdays in Term 3 (20th August – 24th September) - 4.30-7.30 PM (2 groups), Tuesdays in Term 4 (27th October – 8th December), 4.00-5.30pm.

TRAINING PROGRAMME COST: Term 3 Programme - $125.00, Term 4 Programme - $155.00

AGE CRITIERIA: Must be born on or after 01/09/2011

The final squad will consist of 20 players who will be divided into two teams to compete in the Lower North Island tournament in Palmerston North in December. Players selected for the tournament squads will have an additional cost, which will be confirmed at the time of the training programme.

U17 WOMEN

SKILLS ASSESSMENT DATES: 4th September (5.00-7.00pm) & 11th September (5.00-7.00pm)

TRAINING PROGRAMME DETAILS: Fridays, starting 25th September - 6.00-7.30pm          

TRAINING PROGRAMME COST: $240.00                 

AGE CRITIERIA: Must be born on or after 01/09/2009

Players will have a training programme with ~20 players involved. There will be intersquad games to determine the final 13 players selected to play in the National U17 Women’s Tournament in January. Players selected for the tournament squad will have an additional cost, which will be confirmed at the time of the training programme.

U19 WOMEN

SKILLS ASSESSMENT DATES: 28th June (11.00-12.30pm) & 3rd July (4.00-6.00pm)

TRAINING PROGRAMME DETAILS: Tuesdays starting 4th August - 5.30-7.30pm    

TRAINING PROGRAMME COST: $285.00                     

AGE CRITIERIA: Must be born on or after 01/09/2007

Players will have a training programme with ~20 players involved. There will be intersquad games to determine the final 13 players selected to play in the National U19 Women's Tournament in December. Players selected for the tournament squad will have an additional cost, which will be confirmed at the time of the training programme.

YEAR 9 BOYS

We now have a tournament outside of Wellington to send Year 9 Boys teams away to. This tournament will be held in April 2027, therefore the programme for Year 9 boys will move to term 1, 2027.  Skills assessments will take place in December 2026. Please make sure to keep an eye out on our social channels when registrations open for this in November 2026.

SKILLS ASSESSMENT DATES: Assessments will be held in December 2026 and registrations will open in November.

TRAINING PROGRAMME DETAILS: Mondays in Term 1 2027 , 4.30-7.30pm (2 groups)

TRAINING PROGRAMME COST: $305.00

AGE CRITIERIA: Year 9 in 2026 school year

Please note that there will be two stages of skills assessments for Year 9 Boys. Players who make it through Stage 1 will be invited to take part in Stage 2, after which a training programme of 32 players will be selected.                                                                                  

REGISTRATIONS: ​​​​​​​Open in November

YEAR 10 BOYS

SKILLS ASSESSMENT DATES: 

Stage 1: 25th June (5.00-7.00pm), 26th June (6.00-7.30pm), 29th June (4.00-6.00pm)

 Stage 2: 2nd July (4.00-5.30pm – note this is for players away during the school holidays), 7th July (4.00-6.00pm), 8th July (12.00-1.00pm)

TRAINING PROGRAMME DETAILS: Mondays in Term 3 (27th July – 21st September), 4.30-7.30 PM (2 groups)

AGE CRITIERIA: Year 10 in 2026 school year

Please note that there will be two stages of skills assessments for Year 10 Boys. Players who make it through Stage 1 will be invited to take part in Stage 2, after which a winter training programme of ~32 players will be selected. Players selected into the two teams to compete in the Lower North Island tournament in Levin in January will have an additional cost.

U17 MEN

SKILLS ASSESSMENT DATES: 19th July (1.00-3.00pm), 22nd July (4.30-6.30pm) & 23rd July (4.30-5.50pm)  

TRAINING PROGRAMME DETAILS: Starting Sunday 16th August 

TRAINING PROGRAMME COST: $305.00

AGE CRITIERIA: Must be born on or after 01/09/2009

Players will have a training programme with ~22 players involved. In Term 4, there will be intersquad games to determine the final 13 players selected to play at the National U17 Men's Tournament.  Players selected for the tournament squad will have an additional cost, which will be confirmed at the time of the training programme.                                            .
