ABOUT THE ROLE: 

Cricket Wellington is seeking a passionate individual for the position of Development Officer [Women and Girls] to join our community team. This exciting opportunity will support Cricket Wellington’s strategic plans in alignment with our continued focus on Community Cricket.

It is our ambition to see “more women and girls playing and loving cricket” and we have experienced significant success over the past three years. Developing women and girls cricket remains a commitment for Cricket Wellington and is one of four strategic priorities. It is our aspiration to build on our achievements and continue to lead the way in providing outstanding experiences for women and girls in Wellington to participate in cricket. 

The Development Officer [Women and Girls] will join the existing community team at Cricket Wellington and will be fully supported to manage the strategic direction of women and girl’s cricket in Wellington, in alignment with our existing women and girls strategy.

The remuneration for this role is on-par with similar positions across the New Zealand Cricket Major Associations and wider Sport New Zealand network. Additionally, Cricket Wellington prides itself on offering all staff an excellent work environment and professional development opportunities.

This role is a full-time permanent position, based at the iconic Cello Basin Reserve, as well as being mobilised throughout our regional community network. 

 

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: 

To apply for this position, you must be a smart, ambitious sports administrator with a desire to lead and learn. Key qualifications and skills include:  

  • Demonstrated leadership and high level communication skills with proven ability to build effective cooperative working relationships internally and with diverse stakeholders
  • Proven ability to develop and manage a program or work area inclusive of planning, reporting, administration of resources and budget
  • Experience engaging communities in physical activity, sport, and active recreation, not necessarily cricket
  • Confidence to work with people of different ages, cultures, and abilities
  • A tertiary qualification in Sports Management or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in the use of personal computers, including Microsoft Office and CRM systems
