Nine Wellington players have been selected in the Wellington-Tasman squad to play in the inaugural Over-50 inter-provincial tournament in Christchurch over Labour Weekend.
Former BLACKCAP Richard Petrie will captain the team, alongside vice-captain Mason Robinson who sits second on the list of all-time run-scorers in Over-50s international cricket, and first on the list of dismissals for a wicket-keeper.
Nelson’s Dave Leonard is the other New Zealand over-50 player to be selected – the allrounder is one of five Tasman players included.
The inter-provincial tournament will see Auckland, Central Districts, Wellington-Tasman and Canterbury-Otago face-off to find out who will be crowned provincial champions.
A New Zealand squad will be selected from the competition for the Over-50 World Cup held in South Africa in 2020.
