The U18 Women's National Tournament has kicked off at Karori Park today. For details on the Wellington side, with a few players having had some Wellington Blaze experience over the weekend, check out our site here: www.cricketwellington.co.nz/high-performance/representative-squads/secondary-girls-2/ The tournament follows last week's U15 Girl's Tournament in Whanganui where our side finished fourth with good wins over Otago and ND and some tight finishes in other games. Natasha Codyre (who backs up for the U18s this week) was the tournament's leading wicket-taker with 13, including two 5-wicket bags. Thanks to manager Doug Martin for these pictures 👍

Johanna Murray was at our #HBJShield game yesterday to catch some of the action - including her daughter Jess' first 5-wicket bag for the Blaze and a great Liz Perry innings.

Today, the two sides match up for the final time as Liz plays her 100th one-day game for the side.

It's been a mammoth effort to get to the ton for Liz, in her own words: "It really does mean a lot to me and will be something I reflect on and feel hugely honoured by long after I retire.”

The good news is that we came away with a 23-run win in our #HBJShield match against the Northern Spirit today.

Skipper Liz Perry led the way with the bat, hitting an unbeaten 86, before Jess Kerr chimed in with her maiden 5-for to seal the win.

The bad news is that we were beaten in yesterday's T20. Great to see Wareham Sports Media there to catch the action, though. Thanks Hamish!

Photos from yesterday's Women's Twenty 20 Competition match at Karori Park, Wellington between top of the table Wellington Blaze and previously fifth place Northern Spirit. Where 65 off 46 balls from Northern Spirit opener BM Bezuidenhout guided them to 126-5 off their 20 overs. NH Patel then took 3-13 off 3.1 overs, as the Blaze were bowled out for 103 in 19.1 overs. Giving Northern Spirit the win by 23 runs and moving them up to third on the points table.
