Performance assessment
Assessment should be based entirely on the performance of the umpire in this specific match. Do not consider the outcome of the match or the umpire’s performance in previous matches.
Please assess the umpire by rating their performance on a 10 point scale for each of the measures below. Please ensure you are familiar with the definitions of each area before completing this section.
If you assess the umpire as poor you must provide a brief explanation below.
Match management & communication: Proactive control of the match & level of intervention; Empathy for game and situation; Clear & appropriate signalling; Projection of positive image; Attitude to players; Respect from players; Knowledge of Laws and local playing conditions.
Decision making: Out/not-out decisions; Benefit of doubt and consistency of decisions; Calling of no-balls and wides; Ground, weather and light decisions; Alertness and concentration.
Coping with pressure: Reaction in dealing with appeals; Remaining calm despite the number of appeals; Handling of minor or major incidents.
Team work and positioning: Counting balls in over; Handling of player issues; Consultation between umpires; Correct positioning for run-outs; Interaction with scorers.
Overall performance: Take account of the degree of difficulty for the umpire due to their experience; pressure and frequency of appeals; nature of pitch; weather conditions; Playing Conditions and Laws; Contribution to match enjoyment.
