Best batting: 8 v Central Stags, Napier 2011-12

Barry Rhodes joined the Wellington Firebirds One-Day team in December 2011, making his debut in a washed out Ford Trophy match in Napier. His second game was the Firebirds’ memorable victory over the Canterbury Wizards in Timaru the following week.

South African born Rhodes is a run scoring machine for his Wellington club team Johnsonville. In the 2010-11 season Rhodes cracked 883 club runs at 51.94, the most in a single Wellington club cricket season since Onslow’s Andy Wilson scored 969 in 1989/90.

A useful medium pace bowler, Rhodes went on to play for the Wellington U23s at the national tournament in Lincoln.

Born in Port Elizabeth, Rhodes grew up playing age-grade representative cricket for Eastern Province teams and is a former South Africa U19 squad member.
