April/May Specialist Batting programme led by Luke Woodcock

Everybody loves scoring runs (even bowlers) and it is no secret that players with the correct batting technique are more likely to consistently contribute to the team score. The Wellington School of Cricket is excited to announce that Blackcap and Wellington Firebirds Luke Woodcock will be conducting an intensive four-day batting clinic at the Westpac Stadium Centre. Luke made his debut for Wellington in 2001 at the age of 19 and has racked up 384 appearances across all three formats for his home association, scoring 10,594 runs and taking 339 wickets. In November 2017 he made his 128th first-class appearance for Wellington breaking the record for the most first-class appearances for one team by any player in New Zealand. Luke has extensive experience across all 3 formats of the game and in these sessions, he will be touching on some key elements experienced in these formats. http://www.espncricinfo.com/newzealand/content/player/38920.html The clinic runs for four days over four weeks. The dates and times are: 12th ,19th,26th May and 2nd June 2019 1.30pm – 3.00pm Venue: Wellington School of Cricket – Westpac Stadium. The age range for the clinic will be 13 - 17 Year olds. The following themes will be touched on during the course -

  • Technique against types of swing / spin
  • Batting for prolonged periods of time
  • Technical, Tactical, Mental & Physical side of batting
  • How to practice & prepare like the professionals do
