Rain affected the first round of 50 over matches in the Wilkinson Pearce Cup and Hazlett Trophy Wellington club cricket competitions. Overnight rain delayed starts in most games while the Pearce Cup match between North City and Wellington Collegians and the Hazlett Trophy game between Wainuiomata and Hutt District were both abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Onslow were 60 for 4 after 30 over but a 133-run stand in 14 overs between Jimad Khan (84 not out off 50 balls, including 8 sixes) and Stewart Rhodes (69) saw Onslow home with an over to spare.
