HRV Karori and Eastern Suburbs El Cheapo Cars have emerged as the likely finalists for the Wilkinson Pearce Cup One-Day competition, with the winner representing Wellington in the National Club Competition at Easter.

Playing through champions Karori capped off a good week defeating Naenae Old Boys by 96 runs to secure their spot in the final. Earlier in the week they had beaten Naenae in the Twenty20 Final. Karori made 261 for 5 with Chris Spring scoring an unbeaten 104. Michael Cornish took 4 for 39 for Naenae. In reply Naenae made 165, Charlie McLean taking 3 for 39.

Jeremy Dean continued his good form top scoring with 85 enabling Easts to reach 226 for 6. Sam Outtrim took 3 for 29. Taita were dismissed for 114 thanks to Ricky Joseph taking 3 for 30.

Mitre 10 Mega Upper Hutt defeated North City by 6 wickets. Norths were bundled out for 66 with Ollie Newton getting 4 for 14. They then lost four wickets chasing the target.

Meanwhile on Sunday, the Wellington U20s continued their winning streak in the Pearce Cup One-Day competition, comfortably beating Upper Hutt by 90 runs and securing second at the end of the round-robin behind Karori. However, the U20s are ineligable for the final, to be contested between the top two finishing club teams.

Batting first at Barton Oval, the U20s made 238 for 8 in their 50 overs, Jason Mckenzie taking 3 for 38.

In reply, Upper Hutt were bowled out for 148 in the 41st over, Leighton Morgan top scoring with 38 before being run out.
