Eastern Suburbs regained the lead in the Dominion Post Premier competition but five teams are now in contention for places in the final after Round eleven.
Previous leaders Karori established a first innings lead of 95 over Easts thanks to an unbeaten 148 by Stephen Murdoch and 75 to Simon Allen. Lance Dry took 6 for 47. Easts then batted out time, with centuries to Josh Brodie (112) and Phil Parker (116 not out )in an opening stand of 195. Jeremy Dean scored 87.
Taita moved into third place with a 100-run win over Upper Hutt. With a first innings lead of 28, Taita declared at 22 for 7, Zac Curtis making 60 not out and Anthony Crummy 52. Upper Hutt could only make 149 in its second innings. Jimad Ahmed scored 76, while Dave Houghton and Andrew Sturt both took four wickets.
Naenae are now in fourth place after they defeated North City by ten wickets. Following on 142 behind, Norths made 182 leaving Naenae 40 to win which they did without losing a wicket.
Onslow had a ten wicket win over Hutt District. Starting the day at 123 for 2, Onslow got to 271 and a lead of 38, thanks to Stewart Rhodes making 86 and Liam Chrisp 65.Ash Turner made a welcome return for Hutt taking 4for 45. They then dismissed Hutt for 75 with Kevin Forde and Misty Jones-Middleton getting four wickets each and then knocked the winning runs off in quick time.
In the Senior competition, leaders Johnsonville defeated North City by ten wickets. Norths followed on 217 behind but thanks to a last wicket stand of 62 avoided an innings defeat. Louis Kraucamp scored 60.
University moved into second place after defeating Wellington College by an innings and 89 runs. College were dismissed for 119 with Graham Murray taking 7 for 24 to give him match analysis of 13 for 29.
Petone-Riverside defeated Wainuiomata by an innings and 12 runs. Wainui made 180 in its first innings and followed on 169 behind. They made 157 in their second innings.
Taita and Collegians drew their match. Collegians made 173 in its first innings, Dave Scott finishing with 4 for 59. This gave Taita a lead of 68. They declared at 130 for 7, Julian Brown taking 4 for 25. Collegians made 138 for 6 when stumps were drawn
