Cricket Wellington’s partnership with Mojo Coffee this summer has also proved beneficial for the Neonatal Trust, the Wellington-based support organisation for premature and sick infants and their families.
MOJO have been long term supporters of the Neonatal Trust and Cricket Wellington’s partnership with MOJO has given birth to a relationship with the Neonatal Trust. Cricket Wellington is proud to support the tremendous work of the Trust, and have partnered with MOJO in two initiatives this summer to deliver support.
The first initiative, ‘Firebirds on the Foreshore’, hosted outside MOJO’s factory at Shed 11 on Queen’s Wharf was an opportunity for the public to bowl to and face the Firebirds in a large inflatable net to win prizes. Collections were taken from participants which were in turn donated to the Neonatal Trust. The event was well supported by Wellington’s suits down town.
The second was at the Wellington Firebirds’ last home HRV Cup match against the Northern Knights on 24 January. Cricket Wellington was proud to donate $1.00 from every ticket sold to the Trust from the MOJO sponsored match. Unfortunately the wet weather meant the match recorded a small gate but in spite of this almost $1,000 was raised for the Trust.
Treasurer Michal Meads is thrilled with this year’s initiatives and says the money raised will go towards monitors to be used in the Wellington Neonatal Critical Care Unit which the Neonatal Trust is purchasing.
The Neonatal Trust was founded in 1986 and provides a major support network and services for parents of babies in its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Wellington Women’s Hospital. It also assists the Neonatal Unit at Wellington Hospital by purchasing or contributing to the cost of equipment, education of medical staff and medical research.
