From modest beginnings, the Wainuiomata Cricket Club has steadily grown into a mid-sized cricket club in the Hutt Valley, fielding five teams in 2011-12. Wainuiomata won the inaugural club Twenty20 competition in 2007-08 after regaining their place in the Wilkinson Hazlett Trophy competition from Senior 2, which they had won the year before. In 2006-07 Wainuiomata also won both the JA Ives Hutt Valley Championship Shield for average points and the AJ Cook Hutt Valley Memorial Shield for aggregate club points. This season the top team is back in Hazlett Trophy after winning the Senior 2 grade last year.
