The Wellington Blaze are playing at home at Linden Park this wee
kend against the Canterbury Magicians in round three of the domestic women’s Twenty20 and One-Day competitions.
This weekend’s women’s round is the last before the Christmas break, with the White Ferns - featuring Sophie Devine, Sian Ruck and Lucy Doolan - taking on Australia in four women’s One Day Internationals next week in Sydney.
The Blaze and the Magicians play their Twenty20 match on Friday afternoon, before returning on Saturday and Sunday for back-to-back One-Day 50 over matches.
Friday’s Twenty20 match is a top of the table clash between the two unbeaten teams so far. The Blaze’s short format wins have been over the Central Hinds and the Northern Spirit, while Canterbury have defeated the Spirit and the Otago Sparks.
Like the Blaze, the Magicians have won one and lost one of their One-Day matches in each of the opening two rounds. Canterbury are the defending women’s domestic Twenty20 champions, while they were runners-up in last year’s 50-over competition.
