Following the resignation of previous Wellington College 1st XI coach, Harry Boam, the Wellington College Cricket Club (WCCC) convened a selection panel to advertise, interview and recruit a replacement for Harry.
Six strong applications were received from within Wellington coaching circles and four were shortlisted for interviews.
After a thorough interview process, the panel appointed Duncan Murray to the role.
Duncan has an impressive cricketing background as both a player and as a coach. He was a senior club player for both Wellington Collegians and Victoria University before going on to coach Wellington U17, U19, and Wellington A.
His last role was Head Coach for North City Senior Men’s team before he ‘retired’ to concentrate on raising a family.
He’s now in a position to return to coaching with one of Wellington’s premier colleges.
Scott Sargentina, WCCC President, said that Duncan impressed the panel with his youth cricket coaching experience, his ethos and style, and with the importance he places on values and behaviours.
Duncan will start in the role in early September.
