Jamie Gibson single handily beat Northern District champions Pukekohe Metro on day 3 of the National Club Championships in Auckland. After losing the toss and batting first Easts racked up 429 runs on Cornwell number 3. Jamie Gibson scoring 146 off 90 balls including 14 6’s. There were 30 6’s hit in Easts innings which always looked like it would be to much for the ND representatives.
After scoring 146 most cricketers would take a break and let the bowlers go to work but opening the bowling Jamie bowled his 10 overs straight taking 6/43. Pukekohe Metro never got close and eventually were bowled out for 122 giving Easts a victory by 307 runs.
There were other notable performances by Easts with Josh McLauchlan scoring 85 off 72 and Jeremy Dean opening the innings on the tempo it would keep to with a quick fire 59 coming off 35 balls.
Easts will play Suburbs New Lynn tomorrow which will go a long way to determine which of the teams make the final.
