Ewen Chatfield Trophy Looks to Finally Get Underway

With Round 1 of the Ewen Chatfield Trophy as wash out it was pretty impossible to get a gage of how teams will perform this season. Johnsonville managed to get themselves to the top of the table early with a good win over the Under 19’s on Sunday when it was possible to get some cricket played. This weekend it is hoped the weather will play ball in what should be an exciting round of cricket. The U19’s will feature on both Sunday and Monday as they take on Onslow and Taita, they will be keen to put the first game down to early season rust and move on to try and upset a couple of the more fancied sides. This weekend it is hopeful that spectators will get their first glimpse of the new players arrived this season including James Price, Calvin Harrison and Obus Pienaar.

The games for the weekend are as follows:

Eastern Suburbs vs Hutt District @ Kilbirnie Park
Onslow vs Karori @ Nairnville
Petone vs Johnsonville @ Sladden Park
Naenae vs Collegians @ Naenae
Taita vs Upper Hutt @ Fraser Park
North City vs University @ Linden

Sunday sees the U19s facing Onslow and Nairnville and they will then travel out to Fraser on Monday to face Taita. Our mystery picker sits at 100% after picking correctly the only game to get away. This week they like the look of the following:

Easts to beat Hutt
Onslow to beat Karori
Johnsonville to stay unbeaten
Naenae to get their first win of the season
Taita to beat Upper Hutt
University to squeeze past North City
The 19’s to finish the weekend still without a win
