Winter Academies

Cricket Wellington annually offers a series of Girls Winters Academies (as detailed below).

Cricket Wellington are continually developing the Academies, providing a visible and tangible pathway for players to ascend. These academies are a great opportunity for the girls to improve their skills and make some real early gains ahead of the season. The Academies run after school in Term 3 and are designed to up-skill players in a fun and challenging environment. Split into three age groups; the Mini Blaze (Under 13) and Junior Blaze (Under 15 & 18) Academies accommodate players with a variety of skills.

With a packed schedule for both club and representative cricket, there will be a variety of opportunities across all age groups to participate at both zone and provincial level*. With this in mind, these Academies are a great way to meet some of the summer coaches, learn some new skills and get ready for an exciting season ahead. *Further details to follow ASAP once confirmed

The Mini Blaze has proved hugely popular and so to accommodate the demand, Cricket Wellington are now decentralising the Academy. We’re hoping that by bringing the Academy into local communities it will be a big step towards reigniting girls zone teams and really start to excite the players with increased opportunities. The Under 13 summer programme is shaping up to be a vibrant and busy schedule this year so for the girls in primary school there are just so many options to take part in the game with backyard, school, club, zone and provincial tournaments. It’s a really exciting time for the girls to be involved.

With a limited number of players for each Academy, places will be allocated on a ‘first-come-first-serve’ basis with all additional player interest placed on a standby list.
